About this event

The Tuesday, September 24 tour to Wenger Grapes and Milmont Greenhouses will proceed as planned, rain or shine.  The morning session at Wenger Grapes will be outside with part of the session sheltered by canopies.  There will be some seating available, but you are welcome to bring your favorite lawn chair, if so desired.  In the event of rain It would be helpful for you to bring an umbrella and/or rain gear, as you will have the opportunity to walk around the farm and vineyard.  We will be inside at Milmont Greenhouses. Attached is the schedule for the day.

08:45 - Meet at Parkview Mennonite Church lower parking lot, along Park Rd, to carpool.

 

09:00 - Leave for Wenger Grapes, 4094 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Waynesboro

  • The farm is around 1.5 miles South of I64 along Rt 340.Part of the vineyard is on the right side along Rt 340.Enter by the “Pick your own” grape sign, drive to the house area and park as directed.You will then be directed to the gathering location at the back lawn.

     

    10:00 – Meet at Wenger Grapes.

  • Owner and operators, Mark and Wendy Wenger Hochstedler, will share about the history of the vineyard and what is involved in operating the vineyard.There will be time for Q & A and free time to walk around the vineyard. If interested you can purchase grapes (pick your own or already picked), jam, and juice.

     

    11:30 – 1:00 Lunch on your own.

01:00 – Meet at Milmont Greenhouses, 48 Milmont Dr, Stuarts Draft VA

  • Connor Waters will share about the history and operations of Milmont Greenhouses.There will be time for Q & A and roaming on your own.Each carload can decide when they want to leave and return to Parkview Mennonite Church.
